Cynthia’s home from March 28 to April 12, 2014.
The winter of 2014 was an extremely harsh one in Canada. With our time at Suzy’s drawing to an end, we decided we didn’t want to rush home. We put our names back on the house sitters site to see if we could find something in the Southwest. Within days we heard from Cynthia in Albuquerque. We were delighted when she chose us. We could put off that return to Canada for another couple of weeks.
At Cynthia’s we found ourselves in a suburban home that was close to shops and restaurants. Our charges were two cats this time. Baby, was the name of the cat that Cynthia had had for 23 years. 23 is extremely old for a cat. We feared she would die on our watch. When we asked Cynthia what we should do if that happened she pointed to the backyard and a shovel. Baby did not die during our stay. She often fell over climbing the stairs and we’d have to put her upright again. She often missed her target in the litter box so some extra cleaning was required….but she did not die. However we have kept in touch with Cynthia and Baby has passed on to cat heaven just recently.
We loved our time in Albuquerque. We toured all of the “Breaking Bad” locations and were forced to binge watch the series again to refresh our memories. We drove the Turquoise Trail and spent a few of our days in Santa Fe about an hour down the road.
Our duties besides keeping the house tidy and looking after the cats included filling about a dozen bird-feeders with food every day.
